Geo-grid: the sampling lattice a buyer should verify first.
A geo-grid is a regular lattice of geographic coordinates around a business from which a rank tracker queries Google, recording local pack positions per node to produce a coverage map. It is the first thing to verify when evaluating local rank tracking software.
Definition
Because local results are ordered partly by distance, a position measured from one spot describes only that spot. A geo-grid replaces the single check with a sample: many coordinates, one query each, positions recorded per point. Rendered on a map — green for top-three positions, warming colours below — the grid shows the true shape of a business's visibility across its service area.
Why buyers should care
"Geo-grid" in a feature list is a claim that can be checked in a demo: ask to see the grid, its size and span settings, and two archived scans compared. The method is the gate in this site's comparison, and the pipeline behind it is at how local rank tracking works. LocalRank (localrank.so), Local Falcon and BrightLocal implement it; LocalRank's plans start at $29 per month.
